Egg White Face Mask DIY

Hi ChoxChe-ers! Welcome back to my blog! Today I am gonna share a beauty tips that is as easy as ABC! It’s the making of egg white mask! Egg white mask is good for tightening skin and removing whiteheads and blackheads. In case you don’t already know, blackheads; also known as open comedones; are the skin-colored bumps that form when you have pimples. These comedones consist of follicles with very large openings, or pores. Over the time, these large pores become clogged with sebum. A chemical reaction with the sebum causes the melanin to be oxidized, turning the clogged pores a black color. While else, whiteheads; also known as closed comedones; are the condition whereby the comedones have very small openings and the follicles become filled with bacteria. As air isn’t able to enter the follicle, the bacteria inside doesn’t undergo a chemical reaction, making the pores stay white in color.

So the question is, how could the egg white mask help tauten our skin and remove the yucky whiteheads and blackheads? The answer lies within the natural property of the egg white itself. Egg whites contain a punch of protein called albumin. Albumin is very important for cell regeneration, growth and repair. Towards the skin, this means it will tighten our skin, shrink any pores and thus reduce the formation of blackheads and whiteheads. What’s more, egg whites are also rich in nutrients, such as riboflavin (vitamin B6) and etc that nourish and moisturize our skin, giving it a lighter and brighter appearance.

So without further ado, let’s jump into the ingredients and steps needed to make this incredibly cheap yet beneficial face mask!

Ingredients:

1. An egg

2. Cottons

Instructions:

1. Crack an egg and separate the egg yolk from egg white. We only need the egg white this time.

2. Remove the "white things" from the eqq white if you see one. These are called chalazae, which compose of two little twisted ropes that hold the egg yolk to the shell.

3. Soak the cottons in egg white.

4. Split the cotton into thin layers if your cottons are too thick. Mine were quite thick and I needed to separate it into 3 thin layers.

5. Squeeze off the cotton a bit, because too much of egg whites means longer time is needed to wait until the mask is dried.

6. Expand the cottons and apply them on your face. The sequence of where you put the cottons first doesn't matter. What’s important is to press the cottons firmly to let the air bubble out, since air bubble could disrupt the layer the mask is creating. Also, it’s good to overlap the cottons between one and another as it allows an easy peeling in one strip after the mask has dried.

*Pliz excuse my face*

7. Wait until the mask dries. It should be around 30 minutes but you could fasten up this process by using hair dryer, just like what I did. LOL.

8. Gently peel off the mask.

9. Disclaimer: don’t scroll down if you don’t want to see my whiteheads!
